Weathermail robot

Weathermail is the name of the service for distributing weather bulletins, forecasts, satellite images and the like, by email. This is the primary means by which Caribeweather can distribute the information it has available. There is one (low volume) main list which is used to announce important events and changes related to the web site.

Apart from this general purpose list, there are several lists dedicated exclusively to the distribution of the bulletins (products) emitted by the NWS. The available lists, their main purpose, content and other relevant information, appear below.

At present, only textual information is distributed. While the system is capable of distributing satellite images as well, this is presently disabled to save bandwidth (and the associated costs).

General interest lists

• Announcements This is where announcements are made regarding important events and changes in the web site.

Bulletin distribution lists

• State forecast State forecast for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
• Zone forecast Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands forecasts, by zones.
• Hourly weather roundup Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands hourly weather summary.
• Marine forecast Puerto Rico coastal waters forecast.
• Weather Summary for PR and US VI.
• Tropical Weather Outlook Weather outlook for the North Atlantic, Caribbean sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
• Tropical Weather Discussion Detailed and expanded version of the above.
• Hurricane bulletins Official bulletins emitted during hurricane warnings and alerts for PR, US VI and nearby islands. Note that the bulletins sent to this list are only those emitted during warnings and alerts. If you are interested in a more frequent and broader coverage, you should check the Tropical Weather Outlook and Tropical Weather Discussion bulletins and subscribe to their corresponding lists as well.
• Special statements Special statements, warnings, advisories and alerts related to hazardous weather conditions.
